Pruning-  The best time to prune Blue Shadow Fothergilla is in late winter.  Do not shape the shrub when it is blooming.  You can also prune this bush lightly after it is done flowering.  Be careful not to take too much foliage off during a summer prune.  Removing summer foliage will limit the fall color of the plant.
