Seeding

Seeding

We offer spot seeding, overseeding and new lawn seeding.  Our products include full sun, part shade and sports turf mixes for high traffic areas.  We seed from March to May in the spring and September to October in the Fall.  The best time to get your lawn established is towards the middle of September.  Mid-September usually means cooler temperatures and increased moisture.  Both components are crucial in developing a lawn.  Most bluegrass seed varieties will take approximately 30 days to germinate.  Typical rye and fescue blends will germinate in 7 to 10 days.  Most seed mixes carry a combination of annual and perennial seeds.  Annual seeds are ideal for quick germination, which will helps hold bluegrass in place until it has a chance to germinate.  After the growing season ends, annual grasses will not return, and you are left with the desired perennial varieties.

Along with seeding services we offer erosion blanket applications as well.  Straw Erosion blankets help protect the new seed, store moisture and reduce erosion.  Any project where erosion chances are high, we recommend using a straw mat.  Straw mat will decompose and break down over time, adding organic material to the soil.  Straw mats also help the ground retain moisture, which means a reduction in watering.
